10/27/1947	Indian Governments accepts King of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Harisingh's accession merging Jammu and Kashmir in India and sends its troops. Accession of Jammu and Kashmir was then officially announced. No. 12 Sqn was to initiate the remarkable feat of air-lifting the first Sikhs from Palam onto the rough and dusty Srinagar airstrip without planning or reconnaissance as the initial Indian response to the sizeable insurgent forces that were pouring across the border into Jammu and Kashmir.

7/11/1957	Aga Sultan Sir Muhammad (1877-1957), Aga Khan III, spritual leader of Ismaeli Muhammedans, passed away. He worked for Britian in the WW I & II. Aga Khan was extremly rich, he once had himself weighed against a sack of diamonds belonging to him. He was also one among those who formed the Muslim League.
5/27/1930	India's major cities are seething with unrest following the arrest of Mahatma Gandhi and thousands of his followers in the campaign of civil disobedience against British rule. Civil unrest in Bombay, where at least six were killed and sixty injured.
